Institutional Effectiveness
Institutional Effectiveness at Mason
Continuous improvement is the goal of institutional effectiveness (IE) at Mason. An umbrella term, IE at Mason is data-informed and supported while focused on continuous improvement, thoughtful analysis and future planning to enhance, innovate and evolve the work we do.
At Mason, specific examples of IE services provided by OIEP include:
- Guidance to academic, administrative, and co-curricular units as they assess their goals and learning outcomes.
- Coordinating a comprehensive system of program review in both the academic and co-curricular space.
- Administering, analyzing, and distributing high-quality institutional surveys to university stakeholders.
- Supporting university strategic planning and goals.
In order to support the various facets of IE at Mason, the Office of Institutional Effectiveness and Planning works with critical stakeholders through a network of assessment councils. The assessment council network ensures good practice is followed within academic, co-curricular, and administrative units.
