The Data Governance Board (DGB) reports to the Executive Steering Committee and is charged with creating and reviewing policies informed by the Data Steward Council and end-user input. Members will be unit heads (Data Trustees) accountable for data therein and will include data domains across the university. Specific duties include:
- As informed by the Data Steward Council, prioritize data solutions and actions for resolution of data quality issues.
- Appoint Data Stewards within their units to act as subject matter experts at a granular level and ensure both time and staff resources are allocated to address data quality and definition issues.
- Define, review, and approve policies to address data quality issues.
- Charge working groups as appropriate to meet DGC needs, e.g. research, drafting policies, etc.
- Promote the value for data governance across the institution.
- Update and inform the ESC regarding progress:

- Advocate for resources to advance objectives and goals.

- Escalate issues for resolution and/or approval.
