Sheena Serslev

Sheena Serslev

Title: Director of Institutional Assessment

Dr. Sheena Serslev engages in institutional assessment with an educational development approach. Her research interests blend program assessment with creativity and learning.
 
Prior to joining George Mason University, she was the Associate Director of Engaged Teaching at the UC San Diego Teaching + Learning Commons where she collaborated with departments and faculty to design evidence-based, student-centered, and equitable learning experiences. She has worked as an educator, researcher, and arts administrator.
 
Sheena studied Visual Arts and Communications at UC San Diego and earned her Master’s in Arts Management from the Heinz College of Public Policy at Carnegie Mellon University. She completed her Doctorate in Educational Leadership from UC San Diego.
 

In her spare time, Sheena can usually be found swimming or painting.

Eunkyoung Park

Title: Executive Director of Institutional Effectiveness

Dr. Eunkyoung Park serves as the Executive Director of Institutional Effectiveness within the Office of Institutional Effectiveness and Planning at George Mason University. She leads the university’s assessment efforts, encompassing accreditation, annual assessment, program review, institutional surveys, and data analysis and visualization. In this role, she designs and develops analytical and research studies that utilize assessment and institutional research data to enhance student success, program effectiveness, and overall institutional performance.

Before joining George Mason University, Dr. Park held roles at the Korean Educational Development Institute (KEDI) in South Korea and the Institute for Higher Education Policy (IHEP) in the United States. She earned her Ph.D. in Higher Education and Student Affairs from Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana and her Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees from Seoul National University, Seoul, South Korea.

Mehrnaz Owyar-Hosseini

Mehrnaz provides support for faculty/staff data compilation, reporting, and ad-hoc requests. She also provides support for the Student Evaluations of Teaching tool, Blue, and was part of the team which worked to successfully implement Blue for the University.
 
Mehrnaz received an M.S. in Mathematics and Statistics from Georgetown University, and an M.S. in Accounting from George Mason University. She earned her B.S. in Statistics from James Madison University.
 

Mehrnaz loves anything and everything having to do with Mariah Carey, and has a picture with her when she met her a number of years ago.

Lisa Anh Nguyen

Lisa Anh Nguyen

Title: Director of Data Analytics

Lisa currently serves as Director of Data Analytics to provide streamlined research to support planning and decision-making efforts across Mason. This includes ensuring data are valid and reliable, creating data tools, and supporting accreditation and mandated reporting. Prior to joining Mason, Lisa was Director of Institutional Research and Reporting at Clackamas Community College in Oregon. Leading up to her stint in Oregon, she worked in institutional research at a number of community colleges in Southern California.
 
Over the years, Lisa has engaged in professional associations as a contributor and as a learner. Currently she serves as President of the Virginia Association for Institutional Research (VAIR). Lisa earned a BA in Sociology and a MA in Demographic and Social Analysis from the University of California, Irvine.
 

Despite being born and raised near the beaches of Southern California, Lisa still uses floaties to swim.

Robert McDonnell

Robert has been with OIEP since January of 2000. He works on rankings and surveys while providing administrative support for the OIEP team.

Robert enjoys listening to music and spending time with his dog.

Karen Manley

Karen Manley

Karen is responsible for the general management of OIEP. She has been involved for several years in annual assessment, academic program review, and accreditation activities, including administration of Mason’s assessment management system – Tk20. She also provides support to the Associate Provost with university initiatives.

Karen received her B.S. in Government and Politics from the University of Maryland University College. Before joining OIEP, Karen worked for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) as a Disaster Assistance Employee on the Gulf Coast. She also spent several years as a Field Representative for the University of Maryland’s European Division in Germany.

Chris Lee

Chris Lee

Title: Associate Director of Institutional Effectiveness

Dr. Chris Lee leads the systematic assessment and reporting of the university’s general education curriculum, Mason Core. She has led institutional efforts in general education assessment, program review, and co-curricular assessment. Prior to her role at George Mason, she worked as a K–12 educator and mathematics specialist, building expertise in curriculum development and instruction. Chris holds a PhD in Education, Research Methodology from George Mason University, an MS in Education from the University of Pennsylvania, and a BS in Nursing from the University of Virginia.

 

Chris loves singing and is forever an aspiring musical artist.

Patrick Kimball

Title: IT Specialist

Patrick serves as the IT Specialist, overseeing all computer hardware and software assets. He also functions as an intermediary between our office and ITS, to better support the OIEP data analytics software suite. Prior to this, he served as a Systems Administrator for Applied Research Associates Inc. in an environment with two separate office locations. Additionally, Patrick is a former NASA Goddard Space Flight Center intern, where he supported the development of small business research ideas in the NASA SBIR/STTR program.

He earned his Bachelor’s degree from George Mason University in Information Systems and Operations Management. During his studies, he worked as an IT Specialist for George Mason’s Facilities Department.

When he was young, Patrick lived on a U.S. military base in the Yongsan District of Seoul, Korea – the Yongsan Garrison means “dragon hill garrison.”

Gesele Durham

Provides leadership in strategic and academic planning, the production and use of analytics, meaningful assessment, data governance and data-informed decision-making that advances Mason’s goals.

With a doctoral degree in Political Science from Binghamton University, she began her academic career at the University of Minnesota Morris as faculty before relocating to Wisconsin where she worked for both UW-Madison and UW-Milwaukee.  She also served one year with the General Accounting Office evaluating international environmental agreements. Originally from central Illinois, she attended Illinois State University for her bachelor’s and master’s degrees, both in Political Science.

Appeared on the Larry King show with a dramatic interpretation about life in a fishbowl from the fish perspective.

John Dooris

John Dooris plans and executes research to inform decision-making and strategic policy initiatives at Mason, and serves on leadership teams responsible for developing university-wide data products and initiatives.

Prior to joining Mason, he was a geographer at the U.S. Census Bureau. John earned his Ph.D. in education with concentrations in higher education and research methodology from George Mason University. He received an M.S. in urban geography from Utrecht University and a B.S. in geography from Penn State University.

John is a die-hard bike commuter and rides his bike to campus year-round.
